CHEERLEADING AGE DIVISIONS

Girls are placed onto cheerleading squads based upon Pop Warner rules that divide the children based upon age. A cheerleader’s league age is determined by how old she is on July 31st of any given year.

The girl’s cheerleading divisions are classified as follows: (1) Flag cheerleading is for girls aged 5 and 6, (2) Tiny mites are for for girls aged 7, (3) Junior Mitey Mites are for girls aged 8, (4) Mitey Mites are for girls aged 9, (5) Pee Wee is for girls ages 11 and 12 and (6) Junior Varsity Cheerleading is for girls ages 12 and 13. The Pee Wee and Junior Varsity divisions participate in the league cheer competition with the ultimate goal of advancing to the Pop Warner National Championships in Orlando, Florida.

LV FOOTBALL COACHING

Lenape Valley Football is looking for head coaches for the upcoming season. There are a limited number of coaching positions, and the LV Board reviews the applications and makes a selection that gives careful consideration to a number of factors. As always, LV Football is immensely thankful to all those willing to volunteer with our program.

All selected coaches must attend annual mandatory coach and safety training to obtain the appropriate coaching certifications. Topics covered in these programs include practice plans, player and position evaluations, offensive schemes, defensive schemes, offensive positional drills, defensive positional drills and special teams.

CHEERLEADING PRACTICES

Competitive-level cheerleaders in the Pee Wee and Junior Varsity Divisions typically have scheduled practice 4 nights per week (Monday-Thursday) in August and then 2 or 3 nights per week after Labor Day.

Non-competitive level cheerleaders in the Flag, Tiny Mites, Junior Mitey Mites and Mitey Mites divisions practice 2 or 3 nights per week in August and then 1 or 2 nights per week after Labor Day. The practice times are dependent upon daylight, coaches availability and gym availability. The practices generally run 90 minutes to 120 minutes depending on the age of the children.
